DETROIT – The family of a 37-year-old man is seeking answers three years after he was shot and killed on Detroit’s southwest side. According to Crime Stoppers of Michigan, Gary Williams received a call from an unknown person about attending a birthday party for a mutual friend. Crime Stoppers said Williams was a Michigan native and resided in Arizona for six years prior to his death. Man charged in series of Troy home invasions
Troy police say their suspect got into four homes and robbed them recently. D’Mario Darrell Thornton, 40, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon after being arrested Sunday morning and held on a $45,000 bond. Joshua Jones from the Troy Police Department told Local 4 News officers first suspected Thornton after the first home invasion a week ago in the neighborhood near Somerset collection. Immediately detectives went to work and followed Thornton to a Troy neighborhood at Livernois and Big Beaver Saturday night. They say he went to work robbing two homes.

Airman accused of rape, suspected in 5 other criminal sexual conduct cases in Oakland County
WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A U.S. airman was arrested after deserting the U.S. Air Force and a warrant issued for his arrest out of Oakland County. Ian Mitchell Wilson, 20, was arrested in the state of Washington after trying to cross the border into Canada. Wilson was extradited back to Oakland County and made his first appearance in the Waterford Township district court. DETROIT – A Detroit woman has been charged after she was accused of stealing money from the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO branch and Laborers International Hall of Fame (LIHOF). Prosecutors said Long served as treasurer of the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO branch and LIHOF, allegedly embezzling close to $50,000. A July 2018 financial review of accounting records revealed several unauthorized payments made to Long over the years. Prosecutors said that in 2018, representatives of the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO and LIHOF reported embezzlement to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, leading to an investigation. Detroit man charged with 1st degree murder in shooting death of Uber driver
DETROIT – A Detroit man has been charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm in the death of an Uber driver in January. According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, 25-year-old Carlous Skipper Jr. is accused of killing 43-year-old Yousef Al-Gabri. Prosecutors said that Skipper allegedly used a phone under a different name to call for an Uber. Officials alleged that when the driver arrived, Skipper shot him multiple times, fatally wounding him. On March 9, an investigation led to the identification and arrest of Skipper, who was arraigned Thursday.

Video shows Michigan State University police captain arrested for drunk driving
Authorities said a Michigan State University police captain had a blood alcohol level of 0.25 when she was arrested for drunk driving. Valerie O’Brien was arrested on Feb. 10 after a Michigan State Police trooper pulled her over just off Interstate 96 west of Lansing. A video shows O’Brien yelling at the trooper that she was going to sue him. WILX-TV, which first obtained the video, reported that O’Brien is on paid leave since her arrest. Washtenaw County deputies investigate death of 41-year-old man found in burning vehicle
SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of 41-year-old Luis Rivera-Estrada in Superior Township. Deputies said that at about 8 a.m. on Feb. 19, authorities were dispatched to a vehicle on fire near Clark and LeForge roads. Rivera-Estrada was found dead inside after first responders were able to extinguish the fire. No further information was released at this time. Police investigate shooting at Zap Zone in Farmington
FARMINGTON, Mich. – Farmington police are investigating a shooting which happened at about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Zap Zone location on Grand River Avenue. Investigators said officers were dispatched to Zap Zone after numerous 911 calls reporting gunfire with potentially three victims. Upon making entry into Zap Zone, officers were unable to locate any victims or evidence that anyone was hit by gunfire. “Although the investigation is ongoing, it is clear after reviewing the surveillance video at the business that the intended victim of the shooting was targeted. Detectives are continuing to work with the business reviewing additional surveillance video and collecting evidence,” Farmington Public Safety Director Ted Warthman said.
