When troopers arrived, they found numerous shell casings in the street around a Mazda SUV. The SUV also had several bullet holes in it.

Police spoke with a group of people who said they had been outside all night long and hadn’t seen anything. Police said the group “became more aggressive” and tried to enter the scene.

Oak Park public safety officers were called to help control the crowd and secure the scene, police said.

Two more vehicles near the SUV had been struck by bullets and there were two bullet holes in the front door of a home. The residents inside the home also did not cooperate with police. Handgun casings were found on the porch.

More than 20 casings were found that are believed to be from a handgun and a rifle. No gunshot victims have been located.
