Richard Bernard Walser (Michigan State Police)

MIO, Mich. – At least three people have reported being sexually assaulted by an 82-year-old man from Mio.

Richard Bernard Walser was arrested after a second person reported a sexual assault to police. Walser was arrested on Sept. 22 at his residence and was arraigned on Sept. 23 in Oscoda County

Michigan State Police said that Walser was arraigned earlier this year for several counts of criminal sexual conduct and home invasion for an assault that took place in 2021. A second investigation was launched this month after another person came forward to report a sexual assault.

On Sept. 23, Walser was arraigned on one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, committing/procuring gross indecency between a male and female and intent to commit sexual penetration.

There is a third allegation under investigation involving a separate person. Anyone who may have been assaulted should contact the MSP Alpena Post at 989-354-4101.

Walser was issued a $75,000 cash bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 13.
