Update: Suspect identified in sexual attacks of 2 elderly women captured by Detroit police

Sources told Local 4 that DNA evidence is linked to both cases of sexual assault

DETROIT – The suspect that was identified in the sexual assault of an 80-year-old woman and a 65-year-old woman has been captured by Detroit police, officials say.

Kenneth Davis Jr., was captured Tuesday (April 4) in Detroit.

Police say he may have been the suspect who sexually assaulted the 65-year-old woman at a bus stop on Monday (April 3) on Grand River Avenue and Ferguson Street.

Sources told Local 4 that DNA evidence is linked to both cases of sexual assault.

Community activists working on the city’s northwest side say the community provided so much information.

“I’m so proud of Detroit,” said Pastor Mo. “They called, texted, and came out to where we were canvassing.”

Police confirmed Davis was taken into custody Tuesday evening.

“They caught him with a woman in the car and a baby, you know, I wonder what that was about,” said longtime community activist Teferi Brent.

The crimes against the two women are grotesque, and while Brent is pleased there’s an arrest, he sees more work to be done.

“I don’t want it to be any mother,” Brent said. “Every elderly woman in this community is my mother, so I feel a profound need to cover them and protect them, so the question is, as leaders, what do we do now.”
