Driver cooperating with police after child fatally hit by car at St. Clair Shores park

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – A 7-year-old child was fatally struck by a car Tuesday at a park in St. Clair Shores, and officials say everyone involved is cooperating with the investigation.

According to police, at about 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, a 7-year-old child was hit by a car at Blossom Heath Park, located on Jefferson Avenue near 10 Mile Road. The child, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the hospital by first responders.

The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

St. Clair Shores police did not provide much detail about what happened Tuesday. Officials did say that the vehicle involved in the crash was impounded, and that all parties involved were cooperating with police. Authorities were still “in the process of gathering information and speaking with witnesses,” officials said Tuesday evening.
