Stolen farm animals found grazing on Detroit’s west side

Farm still missing two other animals

DETROIT – A stolen sheep and cow were reunited with their family Friday, Feb. 16.

They were stolen Feb. 8 from Pinegree Farms, a 15-acre nonprofit that teaches children about agriculture. The theft was captured on surveillance video.

Police in Detroit were in a southwest neighborhood Friday morning when they found a sheep and a cow grazing on Bryden Street, near the intersection of Livernois and Tireman avenues.

The farm owners showed up to bring their animals home. Since 2010, the farm has taken some animals on the road to teach about agriculture and farming. They said the two recovered animals play a role in the farm’s 4-H program with Detroit’s youth.

Pingree Farms said they have hired a security guard and will install more cameras to deter thefts from happening.

The farm is still missing a rare goat. A GoFundMe has been set up to help fund the search for the missing animals. You can donate here.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Detroit Police Department at 313-596-1100.
