Prayer Halls added to 2024 NFL draft experience in downtown Detroit

It will be the first time the prayer hall will be part of the draft experience

DETROIT – Hussein Mokahal, with the design and contracting company “The Led Lion,” is honored to make history with the 2024 NFL draft in downtown Detroit.

“It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Mokahal.

Mokahal’s company is responsible for constructing two 200-square-foot prayer halls, one at Hart Plaza and the other at Campus Martius.

It will be the first time the prayer hall will be part of the draft experience.

“To be able to contribute to the NFL draft and showcase vendors from the Middle Eastern and North African community, it means a lot,” Mokahal said.

He’s partnering with Suite Storees owner Amera Fattah on the design with the area’s Muslim population in mind, but it’s open to all faiths.

“As soon as you enter, you’re going to want to take off your shoes,” said Fattah.

The prayer halls will be constructed on April 23. The draft begins on April 25.

This is all part of the league’s efforts to celebrate the community’s diversity.

“It is really about inclusivity,” NFL Senior Director of Events Nicki Ewell said. “We want to make sure that fans or even people who don’t know American football and are just getting introduced to it that we have a place for them.”

Fattah said that’s priceless.

“Representation matters,” Fattah said.
