Oakland County man sentenced in murder of teen mother on I-94

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – A 22-year-old Southfield man has been sentenced for his role in the murder of a teenage mother.

The body of 17-year-old Taya Land was found in October 2022 on I-94, near 8 Mile Road in St. Clair Shores. She had been shot in the head three times.

Nathaniel Taylor was arrested and charged a week later. Authorities said he had an argument with Land, pushed her out of his vehicle and shot her. Police said he admitted to investigators that he fired shots at Land.

Taylor was sentenced to 17-50 years in jail for second-degree murder and two years for felony firearm. He had pleaded no contest to the charges in April.
