Downed power lines close Woodward Heights between John R and 10 Mile roads in Oakland County

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Downed power lines have closed John R Road from Woodward Heights and 10 Mile Road in Hazel Park.

The incident occurred on Monday (July 7) at 1:36 p.m. when a garbage truck was traveling southbound on John R Road in Oakland County.

Hazel Park police said the truck may have made contact with the power lines overhead and pulled them down.

Officials are asking motorists to take an alternate route, like Dequindre or the I-75 Service Drive, while the incident is under investigation.
