WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – The eastbound lanes of I-94 at Belleville Road in Wayne County were shut down Monday evening following a shooting.
It happened on Monday, Sept. 8, in Van Buren Township after a woman said an unknown black vehicle pulled up alongside her left side, pointed a gun at her, and shot her vehicle.
The Detroit Regional Communication Center said they were notified of the shooting that took place on I-94, and when they arrived, Michigan State Police Troopers located the woman’s car with a single bullet hole.
Troopers said the woman was driving eastbound on I-94 in the center lane when she saw the driver, a man with curly hair and a hat, pointing the gun at her and shooting.
Police said the bullet, which struck the driver’s side door, was recovered from inside the vehicle.
Troopers reported that no one was injured.
“Troopers are on scene trying to determine the motive,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw. “If you witnessed this shooting, please call MSP at 854.MICH TIP.
The freeway reopened at around 8 p.m. on Monday.
