DETROIT – The man accused of killing a Detroit teen who went missing in January 2024 is facing new charges.
Jarvis Butts, who was charged with sexually assaulting and murdering 13-year-old Na’Ziyah Harris, has also been charged in other sexual assault cases.

Most recently, Butts was charged in the sexual assault of an 8-year-old relative. Authorities said Butts sexually assaulted the child between June 2021 and June 2022 at an auto repair shop in Detroit.
Butts was arraigned Friday, Sept. 26, with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was remanded to jail.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for Oct. 8, followed by a preliminary exam on Oct. 15.
Butt’s trial in the Na’Ziyah Harris case is expected to begin in October.
