Monroe County man to be extradited to Texas for child porn charges

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 58-year-old Monroe County man is awaiting extradition to Texas after reportedly being caught in a sting.

According to authorities, a task force based out Montgomery County, Texas, has been communicating with the man, who allegedly sent child sexual abuse material to an undercover detective.

An arrest warrant was secured and Monroe County’s Violent Internet Predator & Exploitation Response Task Force (VIPER) arrested the man at his Frenchtown Township home without any problems. Several items believed to contain more child sexual abuse material were seized during the arrest.

A K-9 unit assisted in locating hidden electronic devices in the home, which are also suspected to contain illicit materials related to the case.

The man, who has not been identified by authorities, was lodged at the Monroe County Jail pending extradition.
