DETROIT – The next time you head to Windsor could cost you more if you’re taking the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, as both are raising their tolls.
Starting on Thursday, Jan. 1, the Ambassador Bridge’s tolls will increase the one-way toll for cars, motorcycles, and buses from $9 to $10.

Vehicles pulling trailers and commercial trucks will also face higher tolls as part of the increase.
Meanwhile, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will raise toll rates by 75 cents starting Jan. 5, bringing the total toll for card users to $9.
Officials said the increase is necessary to maintain smooth tunnel operations and cover maintenance costs.
The tunnel handles an average of 12,000 vehicles daily.
Both thoroughfares into Canada will see competition soon, as the Gordie Howe International Bridge is expected to open in 2026.
