Lodge Freeway reopens following shooting that left 2 critically injured

DETROIT – The Lodge Freeway near Meyers in Detroit has reopened following a shooting that caused a temporary closure and significant traffic delays.
According to Michigan State Police, the shooting happened around 9:05 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3.

A 30-year-old man from Hamtramck was driving a rideshare car north on the Lodge, entering from Livernois Avenue, when another vehicle started shooting at him.
He pulled over on Meyers Road, and the suspect continued driving.
Several gunshots hit both the driver and his 17-year-old passenger. They were taken to the hospital and are in critical condition.
An investigation is ongoing.
