4Warn Weather – A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac, and St. Clair counties until 5 a.m.

The warning will be in effect until 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 14.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for multiple counties in southeast Michigan as a storm capable of producing large hail moved through the region late Monday night.

The warning remains in effect until 12:15 a.m. EDT for northern Tuscola County, northwestern Sanilac County, eastern Bay County, and Huron County.

At 10:44 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Fairgrove, near Akron, and moving northeast at 35 mph. Radar indicated the storm could produce hail up to 1.25 inches in diameter, about the size of half dollars, which could damage vehicles.

The storm was expected to impact Caro and Akron around 10:50 p.m., followed by Unionville at 10:55 p.m., Gagetown at 11 p.m., Cass City at 11:05 p.m., and Owendale at 11:10 p.m.

Additional communities in the storm’s path included Ubly, Bad Axe, and Harbor Beach, along with several smaller areas.

Forecasters warned residents to seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
