EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A Detroit man is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed a man at a Macomb County cannabis dispensary last week while working as a security guard, officials said.

Leonard Webster, 42, was arraigned on the charges of assault with intent to murder (a life or any term of years felony) and lying to a peace officer during a violent crime investigation (a 4-year felony), according to a release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

The charges stem from a stabbing that happened in the parking lot of Moses Roses, a dispensary at 17375 E Eight Mile Road in Eastpointe, on Monday, April 6, 2026.

Officials said Webster was working as a security guard at the dispensary when he got into an argument with the victim.

When the victim approached Webster’s truck, Webster allegedly stabbed him.

Then, after the victim went back to his own car, Webster allegedly stabbed him a second time through the car window.

The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, according to the prosecutor’s office.

When officers arrived at the dispensary, Webster allegedly told them that the victim had opened his truck door and stabbed Webster, but that statement is alleged to be false, officials said.

Webster was arraigned on April 15, and Magistrate Mark J. Makoski set his bond at $500,000 cash/surety.

If he posts bond and is released, Webster must wear a tether.

He also cannot have firearms or have any contact with the victim.

Webster’s probable cause conference is scheduled for April 28.

“Individuals must stop resorting to violence in response to any disagreement,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Such conduct will not be tolerated and carries grave legal consequences. The allegations in this matter are of the utmost seriousness, and my office will pursue this prosecution to the fullest extent of the law to secure justice for the victim.”
