Trooper rescues teen from burning truck in Detroit, then arrests him

DETROIT – A 15-year-old was arrested after crashing a stolen truck on Detroit’s west side.

It happened at about 5 a.m. Monday, April 20. According to authorities, a Michigan State Police trooper attempted to pull over a stolen truck near the intersection of Outer Drive and Schoolcraft, but the truck sped off.

Police said the truck hit another vehicle and burst into flames. The trooper pulled the teen from the burning truck and rendered aid before the boy was transported to a hospital with a minor head injury.

The boy was taken into custody for possession of a stolen car and failing to stop for police. He was released to his mother as charges are pending.
