The investigation began in August 2025 when a Kent County detective was conducting an online operation posing as a 14-year-old girl.
The detective received a message from a man describing himself as a 51-year-old man from Michigan named “Tom Jones.”
“Jones” asked how old she was. After the detective stated she was 14 years old, they exchanged pictures of each other, which led to “Jones” turning the conversation sexual in nature, police said.
“Jones” told her she looked “sexy” and she should “feel sexy.” He also asked her about her experience with guys, saying, “What have you done with a guy before?” She asked “Jones,” “Do you care that I’m 14, I’m sorry I don’t have much experience.”
Police said the conversation became more graphic about what “Jones” wanted to do to the girl.
After further investigation, the detective identified “Tom Jones” as Juriga, who lives in Bloomfield Township.
The Bloomfield Township Police Department then took over the investigation and learned that Juriga had been allegedly sending messages to the detective posing as a 14-year-old girl until Oct. 16, 2025.
Juriga was arraigned in court on April 30 and was given a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on May 11.
