Details surrounding the case, including whether the alleged abuse occurred on school grounds, have not been released.

Haley was given a $5,000 bond and ordered to return to court later this month.

In a message sent to parents, Oak Park Schools said Assistant Principal Janocus Sanders will serve as interim principal “until further notice.”

The district said it became aware of Haley’s arrest and arraignment early on Friday (May 8) and plans to provide additional administrative support at Pepper Elementary through the remainder of the school year.

“These charges are allegations only,” the district said in the letter to families. “Principal Haley is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”

School officials said they could not share additional details because the matter remains under investigation.

Oak Park Schools also reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students and encouraged families to report any concerns involving student safety, employees, or district property to school administrators.
