Bomb threat cleared at Dearborn Heights career center, school to resume normally

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – Police said no threats were found after investigating a reported bomb threat at a career center.

The Dearborn Heights Police Department, working alongside the Michigan State Police K-9 unit and bomb squad, responded to the Michael Berry Career Center in Dearborn Heights at the intersection of Warren Avenue and Ann Arbor Trail after dispatch received a phone call at 3:52 p.m. reporting a bomb threat, authorities said.

Officers said they immediately secured the area and conducted a sweep of the facility.

Police said the school was unoccupied at the time of the threat, and officials said there was no danger to the public.

By 8 p.m., police said the search was complete, and nothing suspicious was found.

Dearborn Heights police Chief Jerrod Guzowski notified school administrators that it was safe to resume normal operations, according to the department.

Classes at the Michael Berry Career Center will proceed as scheduled on Tuesday, May 18.

Dearborn Heights police officers and school resource officers will be on site early and remain at the school throughout the day as a precaution, officials said.
