Fire danger rates reach ‘very high’ across of the U.P. and northern Michigan

Warm temperatures and limited rainfalls have created conditions in Michigan for fires to start and spread fast.

Fire Danger is “high” to “very high” across most of the U.P. and northern Michigan.

Weather conditions have pushed the DNR to not issue burn permits for yard debris in risk areas.

The DNR is asking residents to be extremely careful, from campfires to trailer chains dragging on the road.

Paul Rogers, a fire prevention specialist with Michigan DNR joined Local 4 Live to tell us about risks.
