City and Oakland County Parks officials sought input from residents in 2023 for the park’s preliminary design. The project was supported by $3.25 million in funds from Oakland County Parks’ Healthy Communities Park and Outdoor Recreation Investment Plan, including $2.5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and $750,000 in Oakland County Parks’ capital improvement fund.
