MILAN, Mich. – A former corrections officer who served six months in jail for having sex with an inmate in her care and buying him a gold chain is due back in court this week after allegedly violating the terms of her probation.

Cara Wozniak, 36, of Milan, pleaded guilty in September 2024 to having sexual contact with a ward while working at FCI Milan and providing the inmate with contraband. She was sentenced in February 2025 to six months in jail followed by one year of supervised release, during which she was ordered to have no contact with the inmate. However, court documents filed last month show that Wozniak violated those terms.

As part of her supervised release, she was required to submit to periodic polygraph testing — among other special conditions required by the court.

Prior to her most recent polygraph test on June 10, 2026, Wozniak notified her probation officer that she has in fact been in contact with the inmate via phone and social media, and also failed to disclose the existence of a cell phone she had been using.

As a result, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan issued a summons for Wozniak to address the two violations.

She is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
