Video captured at the scene show the victim crossing south on 8 Mile from the northeast corner at John R, against the red light for John R in the crosswalk. The driver, identified as a 27-year-old Center Line man, was in a Ford Fusion traveling westbound on 8 Mile in the far-left lane when he struck her with the vehicle. Police say he had a green light on 8 Mile Road.

Police say the driver was cooperative with police and stopped to check on the victim before contacting 911. Investigators say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
