2 dead, 1 injured after shooting at Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn

DEARBORN, Mich. – Two people are dead, and one is injured after a shooting at Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn Friday afternoon.

The shooting happened at around 1:30 p.m. on July 3 at the mall near Evergreen Road and Michigan Avenue.

According to Dearborn police in a media briefing, three people were shot inside the mall. One person died at the scene and one died at a local hospital. The extent of the injuries for the third victim is not clear.

The victims ranged in age from the late teens to the early 20s.

No suspects are in custody, and it was not a random act of violence, officials said.

According to police, the incident stemmed from a fight between two groups that escalated in gunfire.

The mall will be closed for at least a few hours as police investigate the scene.
