80-year-old dead after off-road crash in Oakland County

HOLLY, Mich. – An 80-year-old man from Shelby Township was found dead after an off-road vehicle (ORV) crash in Oakland County.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at the Holly Oaks ORV Park around 11:45-2:15 p.m., on July 25.

According to preliminary investigation the man was riding a 2022 Can-Am Outlander on the park’s trail when he descended a hill, lost control of the ORV, overturned, was thrown from off of ORV and landed as the ORV fell further downhill.

Authorities say the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to police it remains unclear how much time passed between finding the man and the incident.

Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors.
