SUMMERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 14-year-old has died after a four-wheeler crash in Monroe County.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened in Summerfield Township on Bacon Road, South of Todd Road, around 5 a.m. on July 25.

According to preliminary investigation a 2007 Honda TRX250 four-wheeler going southbound occupied by a 14-year-old of Dundee, and a 17-year-old of Petersburg struck the passenger side of a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse, occupied by a 54 and 57-year-old from Petersburg as they were backing out of a private driveway.
According to police the two teens were ejected from the four-wheeler.
Authorities say the 14-year-old was suffered fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene.
According to authorities the 17-year-old was transported to Toledo Promedica Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Police say the 54 and 57-year-old were both wearing safety belts at the time of the crash and were not injured. The airbags did not deploy in the Chevrolet Traverse.
The crash remains under investigation by Traffic Services Division under Deputy Alec Preadmore and Deputy Hunter Chirillo.
