Police said Ricky Hammoud, 63, was found in his car with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

After further investigation, police said the shooting stemmed from a carjacking. Hammoud was lured to a location, and two armed suspects tried to forcibly take him out of the car.

Matthews and a 17-year-old boy from Redford Township were arrested in connection with the murder. Police do not believe Matthews is the primary suspect.

Matthews was arraigned on Aug. 7, given a $500,000 bond, and is required to wear a GPS tether upon release.

The 17-year-old was taken to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center. It’s not yet known if he will be charged as an adult or a juvenile.
