WARREN, Mich. – A Warren teacher is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly possessing child pornography and drugs.
Warren Consolidated Schools teacher Mark Michael Sharrow, 37, was charged with five counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, five counts of using a computer to commit a crime, one count of possession of methamphetamine, and one count of possession of a Schedule 5 controlled substance and LSD.
He was arrested on a third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge out of Houton Lake on Aug. 18, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
Investigators said Sharrow’s home and phone were searched under warrants following his arrest. Prosecutors allege that sexually explicit videos of children were found on his phone. Methamphetamine and LSD were also allegedly found at his home.
Sharrow was arraigned in court on Aug. 19. A judge set his bond at $1 million cash or surety, with no 10% option.
If released, he must wear a GPS tether and is prohibited from using the internet or any device that can access it.
Sharrow is also not allowed to contact children or enter locations where children commonly congregate. He is a teacher at the Warren Consolidated School of Performing Arts.
He is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 1 at 8:30 a.m. for a probable cause conference.
Warren Consolidated Schools released a statement this week regarding Sharrow’s arrest. The full letter sent to parents and staff can be read below:
