BLOOMFIELD TWP, Mich. – Newly released dashcam video from the Bloomfield Township Police Department shows a 2024 pursuit of a man facing charges this week in connection to an alleged home invasion.
Gregory Benson, 34, was arraigned Wednesday on home invasion and fleeing and eluding charges stemming from the June 18, 2024 incident, which occurred at a home in the 3800 block of Carriage Street.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office says the homeowner returned to find Benson inside her house carrying belongings from the residence, when he allegedly pushed her down and fled the scene. A witness reported seeing Benson get into a Ford Fusion, and a Bloomfield Township officer was able to locate the vehicle as it was fleeing the neighborhood.
When the officer attempted a traffic stop in the area of Telegraph and Quarton roads, the driver briefly pulled onto the shoulder and came to a stop before fleeing back into traffic. Police pursued the driver for several minutes before ending the chase near Telegraph and 12 Mile roads out of an abundance of caution for the safety of other drivers.
Through the course of the investigation, police say they were able to identify Benson as the suspect and authorized charges against him in October 2024. However, due to a medical leave of absence of a forensic witness in the case, the charges were ultimately dismissed in June 2026 in the Sixth Circuit Court.
Prosecutors reissued charges against Benson earlier this month and placed him under arrest on Wednesday. His bond was set at $750,000.
