Man killed, another critically injured in Southwest Detroit shooting

DETROIT – One man was killed and another was critically injured in a shooting outside a home in Southwest Detroit, police said.

The shooting happened at 6:28 p.m. Tuesday in the 4700 block of Toledo Street between Junction and Clark avenues, according to authorities.

A resident in the area told police he was outside cutting his grass when he heard two gunshots, a pause and then two more gunshots. Police said the witness saw a man running away from the scene.

Two shooting victims were found lying on the porch of a nearby home, police said.

A 51-year-old man was pronounced dead and a 40-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, medical officials said.

Police are searching for a black man described as being between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white gym shoes, according to officials.
