Residents count down to opening of Little Caesars Arena in Downtown Detroit

Kid Rock set to perform as LCA opens

DETROIT – The stage is set for Tuesday's official opening of Little Caesars Arena in Downtown Detroit with Kid Rock's concert.

Local 4 will be at the new arena throughout the day as excitement continues to build.

On the eve of its opening, the arena was lit up and ready for a picture.

"I think it's really nice inside and out," resident Jeff Rife said. "I think it's going to bring a lot of money to Detroit."

There's still plenty of work to finish the arena, and crews who have been working all summer weren't wasting time Monday night.

While Kid Rock was doing his sound check, his restaurant had a soft opening. Kim Rife was impressed with the arena.

"I think it blows them away," Rife said. "Got all four sports teams down here now, and no other city can say that."

"It's awesome," resident Kelly Markey said. "Really pretty. We walked around a little."
