Detroit sports personality Jamie Samuelsen says hes battling colon cancer
DETROIT Longtime Detroit sports writer and radio host Jamie Samuelsen revealed on Monday that hes been fighting colon cancer. Samuelsen announced the news on his radio show, the Jamie & Stoney Show, on 97.1 The Ticket. Each morning since my diagnosis, I got up, turned on the radio mic and got to talk sports, Samuelsen said. So I wanted to continue to have fun and not let cancer get in the way of doing what I loved. Samuelsen has been a Detroit sports media staple since 1994, when he first joined WDFN.
Rico Beard joins Mike Valenti as new co-host on 97.1 The Ticket

Rico Beard, a longtime Detroit sports broadcast veteran, will join Valenti on The Mike Valenti Show with Rico, weekdays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00, beginning August 3. I am extremely blessed and honored in becoming a host on The Mike Valenti Show on 97.1 The Ticket, said Beard. I was flattered when Mike Valenti himself asked me to join his show. Before joining The Ticket, Mike co-hosted The Sports Inferno with Terry Foster on Sports Radio 1270 (WXYT-AM) in Detroit.
