LANSING, Mich. โ Considering Michigan boasts the nationโs largest football stadium and fills it when the coronavirus isnโt lurking -- college football is huge in the state. The Michigan Legislature passed a couple of bills that would allow for paying college athletes. The bill prohibits sports organizations from preventing a student-athlete from receiving compensation from the use of their name, image or likeness. He said he believes the new bills surrounding the use of the name, image and likeness will help student-athletes like Edwards. Michigan Sen. Adam Hollier is a former college athlete who championed the legislation because the NCAA has dragged its feet and penalized student-athletes wrongfully for many years.

Proposal N would save 8,000 Detroit homes, demolish 8,000 others if passed in Nov. election
Proposal N -- on the Nov. General Election ballot for Detroit voters -- aims to eradicate blight and dilapidation across the city. Proposal N would allow the city of Detroit to sell $250 million in โNeighborhood Improvement Bondsโ that will be used to save 8,000 vacant homes and demolish 8,000 others that canโt be saved. Those behind Proposal N are hoping to make real headway without hurting Detroiters. The fight against Prop N isnโt about money, but rather how the city has previously spent money. Election Day for the U.S. presidential election is on Nov. 3.
Fight over blight: Detroit group launches campaign against Proposition N
DETROIT โ A community group launched a campaign Saturday against Proposition N.While most Detroiters want to see blight removed from their city, a new bond has some uneasy. The group Call 'Em Out is trying to get residents to vote against the new bond set to be on the ballot in November. โThey have double bookings, they have mismanaged money, they have paid vendors who were not on the approved vendors list,โ Agnes Hitchcock said. Hollier lives in Detroit and said his neighborhood has blight too. โThey havenโt worked in the past and thatโs why itโs so important for us to get it right now,โ Hollier said.
