No. 12 Iowa State beats No. 25 Oregon 34-17 in Fiesta Bowl
12 Iowa State grinded out a 34-17 victory over No. Iowa State had a time of possession advantage of more than 25 minutes. Iowa State won three games its first season under Matt Campbell before playing in three straight bowl games. Iowa State took a methodical offensive approach in the Fiesta Bowl, scoring its first two touchdowns on drives of 14 and 15 plays. Iowa State will have to replace several key players on defense, but Rose is just a junior.

Oregon holds off USC late, grabs Pac-12 title with 31-24 win
USC reached the Oregon 49, but the Ducks' pass rush prevented Slovis from getting off a Hail Mary. Brown’s first throw for the Ducks was a TD pass to Redd on Oregon’s opening drive. USC earned its spot in the title game by going unbeaten with three late comeback victories along the way. Shough hit Johnson with a 16-yard TD pass in the second quarter before Stepp’s 1-yard TD run capped USC’s 80-yard drive in response. Brown hit Dye with a short TD pass to finish a drive that consumed half of the third quarter.

The Latest: Tough day for last year's Super Bowl teams
This hasn’t been a good day for last season’s two Super Bowl participants. The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first loss of the season earlier Sunday when they fell 40-32 at home to the Las Vegas Raiders. This is the first time in the Super Bowl era that the two teams that played in the Super Bowl the previous season have allowed at least 40 points at home on the same day. Atlanta cornerback Kendall Sheffield suffered a right ankle injury in the second quarter and was listed as questionable to return.
