Chaldean Community Foundation unveils new building in Sterling Heights
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. The Chaldean Community Foundation is celebrating a big milestone. Theyre unveiling a new building in Sterling Heights. The foundation is helping people in many ways get through these tough times that have been brought on by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Inside the 19,000 square foot building is a full court gym, office space, music and art studio and a health clinic. It was built by a member of the Chaldean community, Peter Jonna of the Jonna Construction Company.
Body of Iraqi man who died after being deported returned to US
An Iraqi man who lived most of his life in the U.S. but was deported, died shortly after arriving in Iraq. His body has been returned the U.S.DETROIT - After spending nearly his entire life in the US Jimmy Aldaoud was deported to Iraq, where he died of natural causes two months later. The 41-year-old Iraqi national died of complications from diabetes in early August after being deported to Iraq in June. ICE officials said when he was deported, he'd been "supplied with a full complement of medicine to ensure continuity of care." ICE officials told CNN he'd had deportation orders since 2005, though he'd spent time in ICE custody in the early 2000s while incarcerated.
