Ex-Pistons guard Chauncey Billups, Trail Blazers navigate hiring controversy
On Tuesday, the Portland Trail Blazers formally introduced Chauncey Billups as their next head coach. Since Billups’ hiring, there has been controversy after details of a 1997 rape allegation resurfaced last week. In his introductory press conference, Trail Blazers general manager Neil Oshey addressed some of those questions. The results of the investigation gave the Trail Blazers the confidence that Billups was the man for the job. Billups is the successor to Terry Stotts, who led the Trail Blazers to the Western Conference Finals in the 2018-19 season.

Storied Lions beat writer Tom Kowalski among Michigan Sports Hall of Fame inductees
Tom Kowalski covered the Detroit Lions for more than 30 years. On Wednesday, the late sportswriter’s contributions were recognized with an induction into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. Kowalski died unexpectedly in 2011 at the age of 51. Kowalski began cover the Lions for the Oakland Press, a stint that included the 1982 Super Bowl in Detroit. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.

Former Detroit Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups will reportedly add “coach” to his resume. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the NBA Champion would join the Los Angeles Clippers. The team made the decision to promote assistant coach Ty Lue to the head coach. New Clippers head coach Ty Lue’s coaching staff will include: NBA champion, ’04 Finals MVP and five-time All-Star Chauncey Billups and former Hawks/Bucks/Cavaliers head coach Larry Drew, per source. Billups had also expressed interest in possibly becoming a general manager of an NBA team.
