Ex-Michigan TE inks deal with NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals
A year after going undrafted, Nick Eubanks is going to get another shot at cracking an NFL roster. The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Tuesday that they have signed Eubanks, a former Michigan tight end who earned honorable mention all-Big Ten honors in 2019. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it’s believed to be a non-guaranteed contract that would include an invite to training camp. Eubanks only cracked the practice squads in Philadelphia and Detroit, and never saw the field, but his 6-foot-5, 256-pound frame makes him an intriguing option. Cincinnati currently has six tight ends under contract, making it a tall task for Eubanks to crack the 53-man roster come fall.mlive.com
Ex-Michigan RB Chris Evans stars in new role during Bengals’ Super Bowl run
Chris Evans knew he would have to do anything and everything asked of him if he wanted playing time. “Some people get to the NFL and don’t even get a chance to play for a Super Bowl,” Evans said. “If you told me I would have been a returner in the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season, I would have said, ‘Yeah, right,’” Evans said. But he was most excited for head coach Jim Harbaugh, who Evans says “has been through a lot with everything.”“Michigan State, Ohio, playing those games and bowl games,” Evans said. “I’m happy for him, because when I was at Michigan — I could never beat Ohio, I could never win a bowl game.mlive.com

2022 NFL Draft — Who might stay, who might go from Michigan
With bowl season in full swing and the 2022 NFL Draft just four months away, those hard conversations are already starting to be made. Here’s an early look at who might leave after this year, and who might stay, with our confidence level (on a 1-10 scale) for departure. The fifth-year graduate student has used up all of his college eligibility (even with the additional COVID year) and will certainly declare for the 2022 NFL Draft. Andrew Vastardis, a sixth-year graduate student and starting center, will likely give the NFL a shot after the 2021 season concludes. If he does, and it’s expected that he will, Haskins (who has until Jan. 17 to declare for the 2022 NFL Draft) has a good chance to be drafted.mlive.com

NFL Draft 2021: Michigan RB Chris Evans picked by Bengals in sixth round
Chris Evans may not have had the college career some expected, but he did enough to warrant interest from an NFL team. The Michigan running back was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, pick No. Evans is the first Michigan running back to be drafted since Mike Hart in 2008. Departures, Mike Hart could help Michigan football reset at running back
But first, a look at where Michigan stands at running back heading into spring 2021. With a new quarterback set to break in Week 1 against Minnesota, the Wolverines leaned on the running game early — and it paid dividends. Haskins led all running backs with 56 rushing yards on eight carries, while Charbonnet followed up with three yards on five carries. Michigan State won the game, 27-24. But the running game certainly didn’t help things.mlive.com
Day 1 at the Senior Bowl: Michigan RB Chris Evans stays busy
MOBILE, Ala. — If Tuesday was any indication, Chris Evans is primed for a big week at the Senior Bowl. After checking in at a shade under 5-foot-11 and 219 pounds, the do-it-all Evans displayed his motor and willingness to finish plays on Tuesday. Evans played four seasons at Michigan, even though it took him five because of academic issues, and showed a level of versatility that made him difficult to defend. #Michigan RB Chris Evans running routes at Senior Bowl practice. Here’s a look at the starters and who might play this week vs. Penn State (noon, ABC):(*Changes this week are in bold.) Haskins was the only productive back against Rutgers, turning 22 carries into 110 yards and a touchdown for a team-high 5.5 yards per carry. Zach Charbonnet saw a season-high six carries for 26 yards while Blake Corum has been averaging between 4-5 carries per game. If Vastardis cannot play a second straight game, look for Carpenter to stay in there. Why Jim Harbaugh wants to give Michigan’s stable of RBs a hug
Michigan’s coaching staff knew it wouldn’t be easy — and slowly but surely it’s been able to carve out roles for its stable of running backs. Haskins leads the team with 274 rushing yards and four touchdowns this season. “Hassan was really running the ball well, and making yards where there were no yards to be made,” head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters on Monday. “The backs, they’re tall talented,” Gattis said. “Coach, we just want to help the team,” Harbaugh said.mlive.com
Michigan’s running backs answered the call for big plays
MINNEAPOLIS — Michigan’s running backs took to heart the calls from coaches this offseason for more “explosive” plays, long runs that can make or break a drive and change the momentum of a game, by delivering on Saturday. Eight different ball carriers combined for 256 yards and five touchdowns in the 18th-ranked Wolverines' 49-25 win over No. The group was led by redshirt sophomore Hassan Haskins, Michigan’s per-carry leader in 2019, who turned six rushes into a team-high 82 yards and two touchdowns. Corum broke a 9-yard run, while Evans' best was for 8 yards (he also added a five-yard touchdown run). Milton scored a 23-yard pickup on third-and-2 to set up Michigan’s first touchdown drive of the second quarter.mlive.com
Ask Aaron: Can Joe Milton finally be Michigan’s star QB?
Milton’s arm strength and size make him a unique talent, one who could certainly flip the fortunes of Michigan’s offense. He’s going to have to be selective when and where he’s throwing the football. He has big-play potential, and I think that’s what excites Michigan football fans the most. But I do think there’s something to getting Milton comfortable early on. Michigan expected to be good, not great, again with Harbaugh
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan has been good, not great, under coach Jim Harbaugh. Michigan defensive end Kwity Paye said the team is under the radar and has taken a lot of punches from people. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel has said more than once that he wants Harbaugh to lead the Wolverines until he chooses to retire from coaching. Heading into his sixth season, though, Harbaugh has just two years left on a deal that pays him about $7 million per season. The Wolverines host rival Michigan State and its new coach, Mel Tucker, in their second game.
Corum, Evans have ‘home-run’ carry potential for Michigan football
While productive, combining for more than 1,300 yards on the ground and 15 touchdowns, Zach Charbonnet and Hassan Haskins failed to land many long, game-changing runs. “Chris Evans and Blake Corum, those are two guys (where) that’s kind of the natural strength of their game,” Harbaugh, Michigan’s running backs coach and special teams coordinator, told reporters Wednesday. The Indianapolis, Ind., native rushed for 1,722 yards and 14 touchdowns from 2016 to 2018 for Michigan, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. If you’re trying to do the math, that’s 8.7 yards per carry. “We have really good backs — good ball carriers — that pretty consistently put the ball where it’s supposed to go,” Harbaugh said.mlive.com

With familiar face, freshman joining top duo, Michigan football could use 4 running backs in 2020
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan football had a crowded running back room last season, and this year doesn’t figure to be any different as a familiar face and a talented freshman join Hassan Haskins and Zach Charbonnet. Four different players received more than 40 carries for Michigan last season: the aforementioned duo of Haskins and Charbonnet, along with Tru Wilson and Christian Turner. Michigan’s running back depth didn’t take a hit, though. Early last season, Charbonnet was the clear leader, as evidenced by his 33 carries in the double overtime win over Army. If there are any additional reps to go around behind Charbonnet, Haskins and Evans, Corum is the favorite to take them.

Chris Evans hopes to shield democracy with politics website
LOS ANGELES Chris Evans became the most politically prickly Avenger a few years back with withering tweets about President Donald Trump and his Republican supporters. Last month, Evans launched a civic engagement app and website called A Starting Point, featuring short videos from both Republican and Democratic members of Congress and other U.S. politicians sharing perspectives on policy issues. With regular visits to Capitol Hill, Evans built the site over the course of two years alongside actor-producer Mark Kassen, a longtime friend. You want to try and use the platform that youve been given the right way, Evans said. The reason for doing this site is to combat the proliferation of misinformation, Evans said in an interview from his home in Boston.
