The world’s top-selling pizza chain is betting big on the generosity of its customers.

America’s employers posted 9 million job openings in December, an increase from November and another sign that the job market remains resilient despite the headwind of higher interest rates.

Headquartered in Tree Town, Domino’s was founded in 1960 after Tom and James Monaghan bought “Dominick’s” on West Cross Street in Ypsilanti, according to the chain’s website.

A Domino’s pizza delivery driver was fatally shot Tuesday night in Detroit.

Domino’s has announced it is looking for 175 delivery drivers and 25 assistant and general managers throughout Metro Detroit. The company is hoping to help people looking for a job get back into the workforce.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – After a pandemic-fueled boom, U.S. pizza sales appear to be headed back to earth. Domino’s and Papa John’s pizza chains both said Thursday that their same-store sales lost steam in the fourth quarter compared to the huge increases they saw earlier in 2020. Same-store sales are expected to continue seeing percentage declines well into this year. Pizza delivery remains popular, but diners’ choices are expanding, with more restaurants now offering delivery. Ann Arbor-based Domino’s said its same-store sales __ or sales at stores open at least a year __ were up 11% in the October-December period.

DETROIT – Police said two women were shot on Tuesday while delivering food on Detroit’s west side. Shots were fired when the two women -- ages 19 and 21 -- coming from a Domino’s on West McNichols went to a deliver pizza at a home on Oakfield. Investigators said the 21-year-old is listed in serious condition, and the 19-year-old received a grazed wound. Bullets also hit a home occupied by a woman and her 5-month-old grandchild. Investigators working on the scene were pinpointing the shots fired -- seven of which hit the home with the woman and her grandchild inside.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – On Friday and Saturday, drive through Domino’s Farms Petting Farm while watching spooktacular scenes at the Halloween Drive. Attendees will drive along a marked path and stop to watch three theatrical Halloween-themed scenes performed by the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre and Dexter Community Players. Domino's Pizza Group said Thursday that it would try to find a buyer for the 100-odd stores, and turn its focus to growing its business in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The announcement sent shares in the UK company more than 5% higher, as investors cheered the decision to jettison the businesses. Most of the company's UK stores are run as franchises. Domino's Pizza Enterprises, the Australian company that owns stores in France, Holland, and Denmark could be a possible buyer, Brown said. But Pizza Hut has partnered with GrubHub while Papa John's has a deal with DoorDash. The competition is hurting Domino's stock -- and lifting its rivals. is up nearly 25% and Papa John's has soared more than 35%.

The pizza chain is looking for a taste-tester for its garlic bread in Brisbane, Australia. They must also have "working taste buds" and have "burned their fingers at least once not being able to wait for the garlic bread to cool down." Garlic bread is one of the chain's iconic beloved products -- Domino's Australia sold almost 42,000 garlic breads on National Garlic Day last year, according to the company. But it's not just garlic bread on the table -- the taste-tester will also get an exclusive chance to taste products that have not yet been released to the public. Elsewhere in the US earlier this year, a promotion used artificial intelligence on the Domino's app to identify pizza as pizza.

Pizza Hut also is launching an interactive game called "Hut Hut Win" that will give customers a chance to win NFL merchandise and free food. Pizza Hut is also stepping up its digital game with leading apps on Apple's iOS App Store and Google Play for Android. But even without any plant-based products on the horizon just yet, Pizza Hut is still enjoying a solid comeback. "The second quarter, globally, was one of the best for Pizza Hut in a long time.

The promotion, which let customers order both the regular and Impossible Whopper for $7, was only available through DoorDash. "We have seen very little guest overlap between our own in-app delivery and our third-party delivery partner apps," he added. The holdoutFor Domino's, delivery is a big deal. By outsourcing delivery, food companies are essentially outsourcing their brand management, as well.

(CNN) - Pizza chain Domino's has spent 7 million ($8.5 million) to stockpile imported ingredients that might not be available if Britain crashes out of the European Union. The UK arm of the American fast food company said in an earnings statement on Tuesday that a disorderly Brexit "carries the increased risk of disruption to raw material supplies." The company imports about a third of its supplies from outside Britain including tomato sauce, frozen chicken, pineapple and tuna. "We expect the increased inventory level related to Brexit to be maintained into 2020," the company added. The British government has been working on preparedness plans in an attempt to minimize shortages following a disorderly Brexit, and has sought to assuage public fears of disruption.
