DETROIT A crowd gathered Sunday in Downtown Detroit for the citys third day of protests against police brutality. A curfew went into effect for the city of Detroit at of 8 p.m. on Sunday to help curb violence and arrests seen during Fridays and Saturdays protests Downtown. Shortly after 8:40 p.m., tear gas was deployed on the crowds. No signs of violence were seen before the tear gas was deployed. Detroit police started arresting protestors who defied the curfew and loaded them onto city buses prepped for transporting arrestees.

When protestors began to approach the Detroit Police Department Headquarters, Craig said they began throw bricks, rocks, fireworks and firecrackers. Craig told Local 4 that the DPD supports the issue, but had to take action when the demonstration began to threaten public safety.

DETROIT A 21-year-old Eastpointe man was shot in Downtown Detroit as protests against police brutality ensued on Friday. It was previously reported early Saturday morning that a 21-year-old male victim was shot after an unknown suspect fired shots into a crowd from a Dodge Durango amid the protests. Police say all three occupants fled the vehicle but the 21-year-old victim was shot at some point. Detroit Police Chief James Craig says there is no indication that the shooting was related to the protests. Protestors March Against Police Brutality was held in Downtown Detroit on Friday following the recent death George Floyd -- a black man from Minneapolis that was killed in a police altercation on Memorial Day.
