A long line of cars indicated that many families are in need. The line was for a food distribution event held on Wednesday on Detroit‘s west side, one of many events organized by Forgotten Harvest.
Workers at Forgotten Harvest are excited about a significant donation that they say could help meet the immediate grocery needs of thousands of families across Metro Detroit.
Salita Promotions is teaming up with the Detroit-based charity Forgotten Harvest to donate 10 meals to those in need for every ticket sold online to the “Big Time Boxing USA” event on Tuesday, February 20, from Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit and streaming live on DAZN.
Every Wednesday morning for the past two and half years, Tarence Wheeler is outside of Ann Visger Elementary School in River Rouge with his mobile food pantry, “Pantry of Hope.”

A partnership between the Detroit Free Press and Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers is aiming to make the best of a difficult time. It’s called Top 10 Cares, and it’s all about connecting struggling restaurants with funds to help them feed local communities. The Top 10 Cares initiative sends donations directly to local restaurants, who then deliver healthy, locally sourced meals to community members in need. Now, the goal is shifting to feed Detroit-area community members who have been hard hit by the pandemic. Anani said the money he’s gotten to feed the community has helped him keep his doors open.
