Driver rescued after vehicle submerged in Detroit River near Grosse Ile Yacht Club
GROSSE ILE, Mich. – Grosse Ile police pulled a driver and vehicle from the Detroit River following a crash. The incident happened Friday night on East River Road near the Grosse Ile Yacht Club. He pointed officers to the river where they found the driver and vehicle. Police said the driver was going too fast to make a turn. That’s a steep curve so I know it can mislead people sometimes, but never anything like this where people have driven into the water.
Body of missing Grosse Ile man found by fisherman near Celeron Island
GROSSE ILE, Mich. The body of a missing Grosse Ile man was discovered by a fisherman on Saturday afternoon. Grosse Ile Police and Fire responded to the incident at 1 p.m. and recovered the body near Celeron Island in the Detroit River. A medical examiner confirmed the missing Grosse Ile mans identity as 24-year-old Arsim Zendeli, police said. Zendelis family reported him as missing on April 7. Police say his vehicle and clothing was previously recovered but the man was not found after extensive searching by law enforcement and a search and rescue team.
