Jim Harbaugh calls out ‘whining’ James Franklin for ‘sophomoric’ tunnel spat
ANN ARBOR -- If James Franklin didn’t like what went down recently in the Michigan Stadium tunnel, he should look in the mirror. At least that’s the opinion of Jim Harbaugh, who responded to Franklin’s criticism on Monday (Oct. 24). A few days later, Franklin, Penn State’s head coach, shared his concern with Michigan Stadium’s setup. “I’ve really got bigger to fry than Coach Franklin’s opinion on the halftime tunnel from a game ago,” Harbaugh said, before deciding it was still a fish worth frying. James Franklin wants Big Ten to act after halftime incident at Michigan
James Franklin wants the Big Ten to make sure a halftime incident like Saturday never happens again, and he’s blaming the one tunnel at Michigan Stadium for facilitating it. “I prefer to talk about these things in the offseason,” Franklin said, “but the one tunnel is a problem. “They started talking,” Michigan defensive end Mike Morris said after Saturday’s a game, a 41-17 victory for the Wolverines. “If not, this team starts talking to this team, they start jawing back and forth, and something bad is going to happen. Penn State head coach James Franklin is well aware of the problems Michigan pass-rushers Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo have presented for opposing offenses this season. “Been impressed with how they’re playing on defense,” Franklin said Tuesday of Michigan. “I think it really starts with their two defensive ends: David Ojabo who we know very well, went to the same high school as (PSU defensive end) Jayson Oweh. “I mean, you watch that Michigan State game, both of those defensive ends showed up with with huge plays. “That’s what we kind of emphasize -- if we do our parts, and the D linemen do their job and vice versa, it’s a lot easier on us,” Michigan defensive back Daxton Hill said.mlive.com

Heart condition forces Penn St. RB Brown to give up football
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Penn State running back Journey Brown says he has a heart condition that is forcing him to give up football. Penn State coach James Franklin told reporters Brown’s condition was not COVID-19 related, but it was discovered in September during “a routine COVID test.”“It’s heartbreaking,” Franklin told reporters. Brown was Penn State’s leading rusher in 2019 and was expected to be one of the best backs in the country in 2020. Penn State is off to an 0-3 start and heading to Nebraska on Saturday.
Nightmare scenario: What happens when outbreak hits QB room?
What happens if an outbreak hits a team’s quarterback room? “Obviously this year there’s some things that will be unique,” Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst said Monday without specifically discussing his players’ test results. “I think there certainly were those questions after the decision was made,” Ohio State team physician Jim Borchers said last week. And that’s all we really paid attention to.”Big Ten protocols say that athletes who test positive through point-of-contact daily testing must take a polymerase chain reaction test to confirm the first result. While Wisconsin awaits answers, Big Ten teams continue reminding quarterbacks about the potential risks inherent in this unusual season.

So perfect for 2020
In the disjointed football autumn that is 2020, it somehow makes perfect sense that defenders were left celebrating touchdowns by running backs who accidentally reached the end zone. “It’s very hard to see that end zone open up like that and just think to yourself, ‘Get down. As Gurley fell across the goal line, Lions linebacker Jamie Collins signaled touchdown as his teammates celebrated around him. It’s kind of crazy.”And so perfect for 2020.
