Kirill Tyutyayev, Elmer Soderblom impress for Red Wings at prospects tourney

Kirill Tyutyayev made a name for himself at last year’s NHL Prospects Tournament. Tyutyayev scored a goal and picked up a pair of assists Saturday in the Detroit Red Wings’ prospects 5-4 loss to the Dallas Stars at Centre I.C.E. Elmer Soderblom, Tyutyayev’s linemate, had a goal and an assist. Cross Hanas scored a breakaway goal and Trenton Bliss also scored for Detroit. The Red Wings (1-1) are off Sunday before wrapping up the tournament Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs (11 a.m., live-streamed on DetroitRedWings.com).

Red Wings have seven prospects at World Junior Championship

The Detroit Red Wings will have seven prospects competing in the World Junior Championship, including five for Sweden. He had two goals and two assists in seven games last year on Sweden’s bronze medal-winning team. Raymond is playing for Frolunda in Sweden’s highest men’s league, where he has five goals and seven assists in 21 games. His transition to Frolunda’s men’s team has been difficult (no points in seven games). Gustav Berglund, a 2019 sixth-round selection (177th overall), plays for Vasteras in Allsvenskan (two assists in 16 games), Sweden’s second division.

Jan Bednar joins list of goalies eying future with Red Wings

The Red Wings have Jonathan Bernier, 32, and Thomas Greiss, 34, as stopgaps. He spent the majority of the season with Sokolov in the second division (24 games, 3.26 GAA, .873 save percentage). He is on loan to Almtuna in Sweden’s second-highest league (2.99 GAA, .900 save percentage in three games). Fulcher will fill the Red Wings' goalie exposure requirement for the 2021 Seattle expansion draft. The Red Wings signed him to a two-year entry-level contract in April.

Red Wings select goaltender Jan Bednar in fourth round, Kienan Draper in seventh

The Detroit Red Wings added two players in the fourth round of the NHL draft Wednesday, including a goaltender. Prior to that, the Red Wings took right wing Sam Stange at No. The Red Wings took defenseman Kyle Aucoin (5-10. Detroit used its pick at 187 in the seventh round to take Kienan Draper, son of Kris Draper, the Red Wings' director of amateur scouting and a long-time player and front-office executive for the club. After selecting Draper, the Red Wings dealt their seventh-round pick in 2021 to the St. Louis Blues for the 203rd pick this year.
