SOUTH ROCKWOOD, Mich. – The body of a 6-year-old boy who was missing after a fishing trip with his father last month was found Friday, police said. A relative who was looking for Jaxon Oaks found a body in the Huron River. The body was identified as Jaxon after authorities pulled him from the water. Jaxon and his father, Justin Oaks, 29, left their home at about 9:45 a.m. on March 29 and launched their boat from the Downriver Marina and Campground in South Rockwood. and Justin Oaks’ body was found April 13 near the moth of Lake Erie
Dive team resumes search for missing child
A dive team from the Michigan State Police resumed its search Tuesday for the 6- year-old son of a missing Rockwood boater whose body was found Monday near the mouth of Lake Erie. Two members of the state police Marine Services Team used a watercraft to continue the search in the choppy waters of the lake. Today, a helicopter employed by the Michigan State Police will assist in the search efforts, Morenko said. He said the state police dive team conducted an extensive search for the two March 30-31 and April 1-3 and 6-7. They used three boats and up to 11 troopers who are part of the team in the initial search, he said.

Endangered Missing Advisory issued for man, son
Justin and Jaxon Oaks were last seen Sunday in the area of Downriver Marina Boat Launch in South Rockwood. Troopers learned that on March 29, 2020, at approximately 9:50am 29- year-old Justin Oaks took his six-year-old son, Jaxon Oaks, fishing in the Huron River between Lake Erie and the I-75 overpass. The Michigan State Police has issued an Endangered Missing Advisory with photos and other information.
