Prior to his time in Texas, Montero spent parts of four seasons with the New York Mets as a starter and reliever.

Angels fire GM Billy Eppler after 5 straight losing seasons

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Los Angeles Angels fired general manager Billy Eppler on Sunday after the long-struggling franchise finished its fifth consecutive losing season under his watch. But Eppler was dismissed when the Angels couldn't even make the eight-team AL playoff field this month. “Billy and I really, I thought, were great together,” Maddon said after the Angels ended their season with a 5-0 loss to the Dodgers. Eppler's Angels went 332-376 (.469) under three managers with a rotating cast of supporting players around Trout and Pujols. They've endured five straight losing seasons for the first time since 1977, and their winning percentage over the past two seasons is the Halos' worst two-year run since 1992-93.

Mariners send C Nola to San Diego as part of 7-player trade

SEATTLE Seattle and San Diego completed a seven-player trade Sunday night, with catcher Austin Nola joining the contending Padres and prized outfield prospect Taylor Trammel going to the Mariners as centerpieces of the deal. Seattle sent Nola and right-handed relievers Austin Adams and Dan Altavilla to the Padres, while Trammell led a list of youngsters headed back to the Mariners. This season, Nola has started 23 games behind the plate and two at first base. Altavilla has been part of Seattles bullpen since 2016 but has appeared in more than 22 games only once. Muoz appeared in 22 games last season for the Padres and was regularly clocked above 100 mph with his fastball.

Teams not able to disclose who goes on IL due to virus

Cashman noted the situation continues to evolve as Major League Baseball and the players' union continue discussions. Last week, Charlie Blackmon of the Colorado Rockies became the first Major League Baseball player known to have tested positive. Numerous other teams have said they have players who have tested positive for the virus without identifying any of them. Seattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said a few players have tested positive but declined to specify how many. Baltimore general manager Mike Elias said the Orioles have had no reported cases and that no one on the team has decided against playing in the shortened season.
