First boxing match at Little Caesars arena happens June 3

The arena bearing his name is no more, but there’s a new tribute to sports icon Joe Louis taking shape going up not too far from the site of the old arena.

With chicken and waffles, honey buttered biscuits, and shrimp and grits, Joe Louis Southern Kitchen will have you feeling like you’re part of the family.

The project aims to connect neighborhoods in Detroit, Dearborn, Hamtramck and Highland Park.
