More than 2,000 pounds of marijuana seized in Port Huron

PORT HURON, MI -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than one ton of marijuana in Port Huron this week. The 2,027 pounds of marijuana was found in the trailer of an inbound commercial shipment on Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron. The commercial shipment carrying foot items was bound for Columbus, Ohio and was referred for a secondary inspection, according a Friday, Jan. 21, news release sent by the agency. Officers found 15 wooden crates inside, all filled with marijuana. “Our officers continue to identify and target suspect shipments attempting to make entry into the United States,” said Port Director Michael Fox.

Port Huron CBP officers brave severe weather to aid driver in vehicle fire

PORT HURON, Mich. – Two US Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations officers risked their own safety despite severe winter weather to help a driver whose car was engulfed in flames on M-25 near Lakeport on Tuesday, Feb. 16. While searching the officer found the driver in a nearby vehicle provided by a good samaritan to help escape the cold. Both the driver and good samaritan noted it was difficult to call for emergency assistance because of the lack of cell phone service. “This is another shining example of our officers going to great lengths to provide assistance to those in need”, said Port Huron Area Port Director Michael Fox. “I’m proud of the valiant efforts CBP personnel provide to our community during times like this.”Read more: Headlines from across Michigan

Customs and Border Protection seize more than half ton of marijuana at Blue Water Bridge

PORT HURON, Mich. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations Officers at the Blue Water Bridge seized more than a half ton of marijuana from an Ontario plated commercial truck on Monday. The truck was believed to be carrying office furniture to locations in Michigan. CBP officers investigated and uncovered more than 1,114 pounds of marijuana in vacuum sealed packages concealed in cardboard boxes. Michigan woman driving stolen vehicle with over $130,000 in gold bars, 30 grams of marijuana arrested at Blue Water Bridge

PORT HURON, Mich. On Thursday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a 43-year-old woman at the Blue Water Bridge driving a stolen vehicle with marijuana and $130,000 in gold. The incident took place after the woman from Eaton County made a wrong turn and ended up on the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron. In this case, CBP officers took the extra steps to identify an individual in possession of a stolen vehicle and a large amount of gold, said Port Director Michael Fox. This is another prime example of our excellent working relationship with our partners.After arresting the woman CBP officers turned the case over to Michigan State Police, who were given custody of the woman. The gold, marijuana and stolen vehicle were also turned over to MSP.

They also found body armor, replica grenades, counterfeit Rolex watches, Apple AirPods, 600 pounds of cocaine, and enough fentanyl to kill 1.5 million people.CBPs Detroit Field Office includes the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie, and Detroit Metropolitan Airport.On a daily basis, an average of 17,000 passenger cars, 6,500 commercial vehicles, 29 commercial aircraft, and 15 cargo trains passed through the ports. At Michigans five ports of entry with Canada, officers seized $7.8 million, 495 pounds of marijuana, 10 pounds of fentanyl, 600 pounds of cocaine, 13 pounds of methamphetamine, and 62 firearms.

Ancient Egyptian mummy linens seized at Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Thursday that they recently seized ancient Egyptian mummy linens during an enforcement operation at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron. On May 25, CBP officers identified a shipment on a Canadian mail truck that was selected for an enforcement examination at the Centralized Examination Station in Marysville. An inspection of a selected package revealed five jars of ancient Egyptian mummy linen. CBP began to coordinate with a Washington, DC based archaeological organization in determining the admissibility of the presumed antiquities. I am extremely proud of our officers hard work during and after the discovery of these ancient artifacts said Port Director Michael Fox.
