A homeowner linked to a separate homicide case and two 17-year-old intruders are in custody after the teens broke into the man’s home, encountered his wife, and killed her before the man disarmed one and shot the other, Detroit officials said.
Detroit police investigate shooting on Minock Street; victim in critical condition
DETROIT Detroit police are investigating a shooting incident in the 7300 block of Minock Street after a 24-year-old man was found shot in the upper body early Thursday morning. Police responded to the scene at about 1:38 a.m. and canvassed the area, finding the victim in front of a home in the 7200 block Minock. The victim is listed in critical condition. Police said the victim reportedly heard gunshots ring out down the street but did not have much information on possible suspects. Eight bullet casings were found near the scene.
9-year old killed crash on Detroits west side, father charged
DETROIT Kelvin Jerome Simpson II was charged Tuesday in connection to a collision that killed his 9-year-old son. According to authorities, the crash happened in the 14000 block of Minock Street at about 3 a.m. Sunday. Tuesday, Simpson was charged with second degree homicide, operating with a high blood alcohol concentration causing death, operating while intoxicated causing death, operating while license suspended causing death, operating with a high blood alcohol content causing serious injury and second degree child abuse. Court documents claim Simpson stood mute and a plea of not guilty was entered by the court. He is being held without bail and is expected to return to court Aug. 4.
18-year-old Detroit man rushed to hospital after being shot on porch
DETROIT - An 18-year-old man was rushed to the hospital Friday afternoon after being shot. According to authorities, at about 5:30 p.m. in the 13500 block of Minock Street, just north of the Jeffries Freeway, the victim was sitting on a porch when a black Cadillac approached the residence. Police said the occupants of the Cadillac exited the vehicle and started arguing with the victim before one man fired multiple shots. The gunman was described as being about 23 years old and being about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. Police said he had an Afro-style haircut and was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants with a white Nike emblem on one of the legs.
