State troopers arrest shooting suspect in small Michigan village
OSCEOLA COUNTY, MI – Police have one suspect in custody they believe was involved in a shooting on a small village’s Main Street. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment, Michigan State Police said. Troopers responded to a 6:45 p.m. report of a shooting complaint on Main Street in Osceola County’s village of Marion. The suspect is lodged at the Osceola County Jail. Troopers were assisted by the Cadillac Michigan State Police Post, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, and Meceola Central Dispatch.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, MI – The pilot of a small plane used US-10 as an emergency landing strip after having technical problems, sheriff’s deputies said. The plane landed safely Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 29, on the highway in Osceola County’s Hersey Township. The two men aboard the plane were unhurt. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, Osceola County sheriff’s deputies said. While rescuers stopped highway traffic, others helped move the plane to the Osceola County Road Commission’s gravel pit on 135th Avenue, sheriff’s deputies said.

During the investigation, police discovered the train slowed down thanks to a good Samaritan that parked his truck near the tracks to try to save the man before the train arrived. According to police, the passerby saw the intoxicated man lying on the tracks and decided to drive up to him. At the same time, the train engineer saw the truck near the tracks and began slowing down the train, bringing the locomotive down to a speed that did not kill the man lying on the tracks. The semi-truck driver, a man from Reed City, didn’t suffer any injuries. She was held at the Osceola County Jail pending her initial court appearance, police said.

Isaac Wilkinson was arrested shortly after the stabbing Monday, April 19, at a home in the 400 block of South Pine Street in Evart. He was supposed to be babysitting the child and her 2-year-old sibling when the stabbing occurred, Osceola County Prosecutor Anthony Badovinac said. Wilkinson is charged with two counts of first-degree child abuse, torture, assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to commit great-bodily harm and assault with a dangerous weapon, Badovinac said. The defendant is held in the Osceola County Jail.

Andrew Wernette, 39, of Reed City, was sentenced this week by Osceola County Circuit Judge Scott Hill-Kennedy after pleading guilty to multiple charges. The attorney general was asked to prosecute the case because of a conflict of interest with Osceola County Prosecutor’s Office. Wernette pleaded guilty to nine charges, including two counts of aggravated child-sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime, aggravated possession of child-sexually abusive activity, and possession of controlled substances – morphine and OxyContin. He was sentenced to three years, four months to 25 years on the most serious charges which involved child-sexually abusive activity.

Horse-drawn buggy overturns in crash with SUV, minor injuries reported
OSCEOLA COUNTY, MI -- A horse-drawn buggy overturned in a collision with a pickup truck near Marion, but only minor injuries were reported and the horse survived. The crash happened about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22 at M-115 and 70th Road. State police said the driver of a horse-drawn buggy, a 33-year-old Marion woman, lost control of the horse on 70th Road and the buggy pulled into the path of a Chevy Tahoe on M-115. Three children were in the buggy with the woman. The horse, a 12-year-old named “Lasso,” had only minor injuries and walked away from the accident scene, police said.

The lawsuit alleges that Brown wrongfully terminated the contract on January 27, 2018, and would not allow Tedeschi to retrieve his equipment and leftover food from the property. Brown, Tedeschi and his attorney did not respond to a request for comment. Brown recently lost a grievance against the NFL Players Association over the expiration of an old model of helmet, and he is recovering from frostbite on his feet.
